Free parking for Admiral Rodneys Pillar monument visits
Admiral Rodneys Pillar Car Parking is a free, council-managed gravel lay-by located on Maes Y Llan, serving the historic Admiral Rodneys Pillar monument and surrounding countryside. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 20 vehicles on a first-come basis; open dawn to dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime visits only. A heritage information board at the entrance outlines the pillars history, local walking routes (to Llyn Lluncaws, 3 km), and conservation guidelines. Benches and picnic tables are provided near the lot perimeter overlooking rolling farmland. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the monument (0.2 km) and to the Offas Dyke Path (0.5 km). Seasonal heritage open days reduce capacity by 5; signage directs drivers to alternative parking at the Foxen Manor Farm car park (1 km). Biannual maintenance includes litter clearance and vegetation trimming.
