Situated at the western end of Chinatown, Argyle Street Car Park is a 100-space surface lot on reinforced tarmac adjacent to the Newcastle Magistrates Court. Hours of operation are 7 am10 pm MonSat; Sundays 8 am8 pm. Tariffs are £1.50 per hour, capped at £8 per day, payable at dual-mode machines (coin or card) near the pedestrian exit. Four accessible bays are positioned within 15 m of the pedestrian gate leading to Grainger Street. The site is illuminated by LED floodlights on 8 m poles and monitored by three high-resolution CCTV cameras. Bay markings and no parking hatch zones were refreshed in late 2024. Pedestrian pathways are demarcated by textured paving, ensuring safe access to local amenities including Lamp Coffee Bar and Emperors Chinese Buffet. A landscaped planter with benches occupies the central island, providing a seating area. Surface drainage was upgraded with new grated gullies to prevent standing water during heavy rain.
