Scenic free parking on Ashland Lakes western shore.
Ashland Lakes Car Park is a spacious, gravel-reinforced facility managed by Milton Keynes Council, situated on the western shore of Ashland Lake (MK6 4AJ). The lot holds approximately 150 vehicles, including 6 accessible bays positioned near the lakeside trailhead. The surface comprises compacted stone with gravel grid reinforcement to prevent rutting, and is free to use with a 4-hour maximum stay to encourage turnover during peak visiting hours. No pay-and-display is required, but signage advises voluntary donations via QR code to support lake maintenance. LED bollard lighting lines the main pedestrian path to the lakeside boardwalk, active from dusk until 21:30 in summer; there is no lighting in winter. CCTV cameras cover the entrance and main circulation areas, and monthly patrols by the parks team ensure safety. An information kiosk at the lot entrance displays trail maps for the 2-mile circuit around Ashland Lake, as well as angling permit detailspermit-required fishing is available on the adjacent coarse fishery. A reinforced footbridge links to the Bird Hide Platform, popular for wildlife observation, and a separate boardwalk leads to the canoe launch area. Drainage trenches run along the lot perimeter to prevent flooding during seasonal storms, and the lot undergoes biannual grading to maintain evenness.
