Free historic site parking for Avebury henge visits and tours
Avebury National Trust Car Park is a free gravel lot managed by the National Trust, located at Belepool Crossroads on Beckhampton Road. It serves visitors to the Avebury henge and stone circle. The facility accommodates approximately 120 vehicles on a first-come basis and operates 8 am–6 pm daily; closed overnight. There is no lighting or CCTV; visitors should park and depart during daylight. An information board provides maps of the stone circle, path guidelines, and archaeological history. Benches and picnic tables overlook the megaliths. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the henge (200 m), West Kennet Avenue walking route (500 m), and St James’ Church (750 m). No EV charging is available; nearest station at Fyfield Car Park (2 km). Seasonal solstice events and guided tours reduce capacity by 50 %; overflow directed to Fyfield Car Park (2 km) with shuttle service. Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and inspect signage quarterly.
