Free parking for northern Bathpool Country Park access
Bathpool Country Park Northern Car Park is a free council-operated gravel lot located off Church Street in Kidsgrove, providing access to the parks northern entrance. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 70 vehicles on a first-come basis; open dawn until dusk, no overnight parking. A large information board outlines trail routes (4 km loop), fishing spots along the canal (permit required), and wildlife species (otters, kingfishers). Benches and picnic tables are provided near the lot perimeter. No lighting or CCTV is available; daytime visits only. Pedestrian paths lead directly into Bathpool Meadow (0.05 km) and to the canal towpath (0.2 km). Seasonal Angling Club competitions reduce capacity by 20; signage directs surplus vehicles to the Clough Hall Park overflow lot (1 km). Maintenance crews conduct quarterly vegetation clearance and remove litter weekly.
