Free parking for southern Bathpool Country Park trails
Bathpool Country Park Southern Car Park is a free, council-run gravel and grass-surfaced lot on an unnamed lane off Brown Edge Road, providing access to the southern entrance of Bathpool Country Park. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 60 vehicles and is open from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. A large information board at the entrance shows park trail maps, picnic areas, and cycling routes, including the 5 km loop around the parks lake and the adjoining woodlands. There is no lighting or CCTV, so daytime visits are advised. Benches and picnic tables are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking wetlands where grey herons and kingfishers are frequently sighted. Pedestrian paths lead directly into the park (0.02 km) and to the formal gardens (0.5 km). Seasonal conservation volunteer days between April and September focus on invasive species removal; signage indicates trail closures. Maintenance crews clear fallen branches monthly and inspect for erosion biannually.
