Free reservoir-side parking for Blithfield walks and fishing
Blithfield Reservoir Car Park is a free surface lot located along the B5013, providing access to the Blithfield Reservoir and nature reserve. The gravel facility can accommodate roughly 60 vehicles; bays are unmarked but informal parking is designated by wooden posts. Open dawn to dusk; overnight parking is prohibited. There is no lighting or CCTV, so visitors are encouraged to arrive during daylight. An adjacent information kiosk displays reservoir maps, fishing regulations (permit required), birdwatching opportunities (e.g., osprey, wildfowl), and walking routes around the reservoir perimeter (5 km loop). Benches and picnic tables are situated near the shoreline (0.05 km). Seasonal angling competitions occur monthly from April to September, with temporary signage for competitor parking directing extra vehicles to the overflow lot (0.4 km north). Quarterly maintenance includes path clearance and litter picks.
