Daylight visitor parking by the canal with natural setting and accessible bays
Situated adjacent to the Nottingham and Beeston Canal towpath, this visitor car park provides 80 bays on a compacted gravel surface for anglers, boaters, and towpath walkers. Operating hours are dawn to dusk (approx. 6 am8 pm, varying seasonally); no lighting is installed to preserve local wildlife habitats, and visitors are advised to park only during daylight. The lot features four accessible bays located nearest the pedestrian footpath to Langley Mill Marina, each surfaced with firm rolled gravel and equipped with drop-kerb ramps and tactile paving strips. A single CCTV camera mounted on a lamppost over the towpath provides limited surveillance during operational hours. Wayfinding signage at the entrance directs users to local amenities including the canal café and public toilets. In 2024, new drainage ditches were dug along the eastern boundary to manage stormwater runoff. An interpretive board at the entrance provides maps of local walking trails and information on canal wildlife. Monthly volunteer patrols by local angling clubs ensure environmental stewardship and litter clearance.
