Capon Road Car Park is a council-operated surface lot serving staff and visitors to the nearby retail warehouse and supermarkets in northern Colchester. The lot comprises 100 sealed asphalt bays, including six accessible spaces located adjacent to a covered pedestrian walkway leading to the Tesco Extra and adjoining retail units. Access is unrestricted; parking is free for up to two hours, enforced by pay-and-display machines accepting coins and contactless cards; overstays are charged at £1 per hour. High-efficiency LED lampposts illuminate all driving lanes from dusk until 11:00 pm, and two CCTV cameras monitor the entrance and accessible bays. Covered information boards display local bus timetables for the 78 service to Colchester town centre, retail opening hours, and parking regulations. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the shopping centre entrance within a two-minute walk. Monthly maintenance includes line repainting, pothole repairs, and litter clearing to maintain a clean, shopper-friendly environment.
