Seasonal coastal parking with accessible bays, pay-and-display in summer, and direct access to East Mersea beaches.
East Mersea Car Park is a council-operated surface lot serving visitors to East Mersea island and its beaches. The site features 80 sealed gravel bays, including four accessible spaces positioned nearest the pedestrian path leading to the sea wall and slipway. Parking is free of charge from October to March; during summer months (AprilSeptember), a daily fee of £3 applies, payable by cash or contactless at pay-and-display machines. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line pedestrian routes from dusk until 9:00 pm to ensure safe egress. One CCTV camera monitors the entrance during peak season. Covered information boards at the entrance display tide times, local bus timetables for the X76 service to Colchester, and beach safety guidelines. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the East Mersea Yacht Club and local beach café within a three-minute walk. Quarterly maintenance includes gravel replenishment, line repainting of bay markers, and litter clearance to maintain the coastal environment.
