Community parking with EV charging and accessible bays
Positioned off Plains Road, this council-managed surface lot provides 100 bays serving the Mapperley neighborhood and local retail areas. Operating hours are 8 am to 8 pm MondaySaturday (free Sundays), with a pay-and-display tariff of £1 per hour, capped at £6 per day; payment accepted via machines (coin, card, contactless) or via PayByPhone. Five accessible bays (3.6 m wide) lie within 15 m of the raised pedestrian crossing to Mapperley Shops, featuring tactile paving and drop-kerb ramps. The sealed tarmacadam surface was resurfaced in early 2024, and thermoplastic bay markings refreshed in late 2024. LED column lighting on 10 m poles ensures bright coverage after dusk, while two CCTV cameras mounted on lampposts monitor all entry, exit, and aisle areas. In 2024, EV charging infrastructure comprising two 7 kW bays was installed adjacent to the accessible bays, available via the Pod Point app. Perimeter shrub hedges serve as a visual screen from nearby residential properties and aid stormwater management. Directional signage inside the lot directs drivers to the exit onto Plains Road. Monthly maintenance includes pay machine servicing, litter clearance, and drainage gully cleaning.
