Free parking alongside Presteignes recycling facility
Car Park & Presteigne Recycling Centre is a dual-purpose site on the edge of Presteigne (postcode LD8 2DU), operated by Powys County Council. The facility comprises two distinct areas: a free public car park with 25 marked spaces (including two disabled bays) on a hard-stand tarmac surface, and an adjoining civic amenity site for recycling household waste. The recycling center accepts glass, paper, cardboard, plastics, metals, and garden waste; opening hours are 9 am5 pm Monday to Saturday. The car park area is accessible 24 hours and is unbarriered, although overnight parking is discouraged by security patrols. Lighting is provided by three LED columns until midnight, and the entire site is covered by CCTV. Pedestrian access leads to nearby Belmont Road bus stops (two minutes walk) and the Riverside Path into the town centre. A single timber bench overlooks adjacent playing fields. No payment is required for car parking, but recycling facility users must book large item drop-offs in advance.
