Sea-front parking at Roker Beach with EV charging
Roker Car Park is a large, council-managed surface lot located on Queen Alexandra Road (postcode SR6 0DY), serving Roker Beach and promenade. The tarmac car park provides 220 marked spaces, including five Blue Badge bays, two parent-and-child bays, and a dedicated coach drop-off zone. The site is open 6 am10 pm daily; outside these hours, gates remain locked. Payment is via Pay & Display machines accepting coins and contactless; tariffs are £1.00 per hour, with a £6.00 daily maximum. Lighting is provided by six 10 m LED columns until dusk, and CCTV cameras cover all corners. EV charging is available at two 22 kW fast chargers near the entrance. Pedestrian exits lead directly to Roker Pier (0.2 km) and the seaside promenade. Seasonal lifeguard station is adjacent from June to September. A single public toilet block is located at the northeast corner, open 8 am8 pm. Popular among beachgoers and Sunday fishermen, the lot fills completely on warm summer weekends by 10 am.
