Coastal village parking with accessible bays, free short stay, and direct waterfront access.
Coast Road Car Park is a privately owned surface facility providing access to West Merseas waterfront and village centre. The lot features 80 sealed gravel bays, including four accessible spaces located nearest the pedestrian crossing leading to the seafront promenade. Parking is free for up to two hours; pay-and-display machines accept coins and contactless cards for extended stays at £1 per hour (daily cap £5). Solar-powered LED bollards line the pedestrian route from dusk until 9:00 pm to assist with evening walks along the shore. Two CCTV cameras monitor entrances and accessible bays to deter unauthorized parking. Covered signage at the entrance displays tide times, local ferry schedules to Brightlingsea, and bus timetables for the 75 service to Colchester. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the sailing club, seafood restaurants, and sandy beach within a one-minute walk. Monthly maintenance includes gravel replenishment, line repainting of bay markers, and litter removal to maintain a tidy coastal environment.
