Free parking for Grinshill ridge walks and climbs
Corbet Wood Car Park is a free, council-managed gravel lay-by located off the B5476 at Clive, serving access to Grinshill sandstone quarries and walking routes. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 30 vehicles on a first-come basis; open dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime visits only. A Shropshire Council noticeboard at the entrance displays trail maps for the 4 km Grinshill ridge walk, quarry heritage information, and rock-climbing safety guidelines. Benches and picnic tables are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking rolling farmland. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the Grinshill Rocks viewpoint (0.1 km) and to connecting footpaths toward Haughmond Hill (8 km). Seasonal climbing competitions reduce capacity by 5; signage directs drivers to the Shrewsbury P&R overflow lot (10 km). Maintenance crews clear invasive scrub quarterly and perform litter picks monthly.
