Free parking for Raven Quarry and hill walks
Easthope Road Car Park 2 is a free council-operated gravel lay-by located on Easthope Road, serving the northern approach to Church Stretton and Raven Quarry walks. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 25 vehicles on a first-come basis; open dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime visits are advised. An interpretation board displays trail maps for Raven Quarry (2 km loop), geological information on the local Silurian escarpment, and wildlife-spotting tips (e.g., kestrels, wildflowers). Benches and picnic tables are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking panoramic views of the valley. Pedestrian trails lead directly to Raven Quarry entrance (0.05 km) and to connecting footpaths toward Carding Mill Valley (4 km). Seasonal rock-climbing events reduce capacity by 5; signage directs drivers to the town centre car park on Central Avenue (2 km). Maintenance crews clear invasive vegetation quarterly and perform litter picks monthly.
