Easy-access car park for Elsecar Heritage Centre with free three-hour parking and CCTV.
Elsecar Carpark is a combined municipal and private parking facility serving Elsecar Heritage Centre and the local town centre. The surface comprises sealed tarmac with approximately 110 marked bays, including five accessible spaces nearest to the heritage museum entrance. Operated jointly by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and the private landowner, it offers free parking for up to three hours; charges apply at £0.80 per hour thereafter, with a daily maximum of £6. Payment machines accept coins, contactless cards, and pay-by-phone. The car park is open 24/7, with LED lighting from dusk to midnight and six CCTV cameras providing full coverage. Pedestrian exits lead directly to the Heritage Centres main gate (150 metres) and nearby cafés and retail units. A bus stop adjacent to the entrance provides half-hourly services to Barnsley town centre and Hoyland. Maintenance, including line repainting, pothole repairs, and surface sweeping, is performed quarterly by BMBC contractors.
