Free Car Park on Ford Lane is a village facility operated by Colchester Borough Council, serving residents and visitors to Alresfords High Street and waterfront. The lot offers 30 sealed gravel bays, including two accessible spaces positioned adjacent to the pedestrian crossing leading to the village hall and community centre. Parking is free of charge with no time restrictions; overnight stays are discouraged by signage. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line pedestrian routes from dusk until 9:00 pm to ensure safe evening use. No CCTV is installed due to minimal overnight traffic; local parish wardens patrol periodically. Covered information boards display community event schedules, parish council announcements, and local bus timetables for the 76 service to Colchester. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the village hall, Alresford Creek, and café strip within a two-minute walk. Monthly maintenance includes gravel replenishment, line repainting of bay markers, and litter clearance to maintain a neat, community-oriented environment.
