Free Car Park Great Oakley is a council-operated lot serving residents and visitors to the Great Oakley village and country park. The facility offers 50 sealed gravel bays, including four accessible spaces adjacent to the pedestrian path leading to Great Oakley Country Park entrance. Parking is free of charge year-round; overnight stays are prohibited. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line pedestrian walkways from dusk until 9:00 pm, ensuring safe evening use. No CCTV is installed due to minimal overnight traffic; local parish wardens conduct periodic patrols. Covered information boards at the entrance display village event schedules, country park maps, and bus timetables for the limited 75 service to Harwich and Colchester. Pedestrian pathways connect directly to the country park trails, childrens play area, and local footpaths within a two-minute walk. Quarterly maintenance includes gravel replenishment, line repainting of bay markers, and litter clearance to maintain a pristine rural setting.
