Gateshead College operates a dedicated 150-space car park on Quarryfield Road, exclusively for students and staff. Access is controlled via an RFID permit system; visitors must obtain a day pass from the main reception. The tarmac surface, resurfaced in mid-2023, features 12 accessible bays near the main entrance to the colleges North Building, each with dropped kerbs and tactile paving. Operating hours are 6 am10 pm MondayFriday, closed weekends. LED column lighting ensures full coverage after dusk, and CCTV cameras installed in late 2023 monitor all aisles and entry points. Directional signage guides vehicles through a one-way circulation system to minimize congestion. A dedicated bus pick-up/drop-off zone lies adjacent to the entrance, and a covered cycle shelter for 40 bicycles encourages sustainable transport. In 2024, new drainage gullies were added to the perimeter to mitigate flooding, and line markings were refreshed early 2025. Monthly security patrols enforce permit-only usage and assist with disabled parking enforcement.
