Free parking for Greenway Bank reserve trails and birdwatching
Greenway Bank Car Park is a free, council-managed gravel lay-by situated off Brown Edge Road, providing access to the Greenway Bank Local Nature Reserve. The unmarked area accommodates approximately 50 vehicles on a first-come basis and is open from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. An information panel at the entrance displays trail maps for the 3.5 km loop, floodplain ecology notes, and habitat restoration guidelines. Benches at the reserve boundary overlook wetland bird hides, where water rail and reed warbler are often sighted. No lighting or CCTV is provided, so daytime visits only. Pedestrian footpaths lead to Staffordshire Wildlife Trusts visitor centre (0.1 km) and to cycling routes heading toward Brown Edge village. Seasonal volunteer-led conservation workdays occur monthly, focusing on invasive species removal.
