Grin Low Car Park Grin Low Rd, Buxton SK17 6UJ

Free parking for Grin Low walks, Solomon’s Temple, and Poole’s Cavern

Be the first to review

Grin Low Car Park is a free, Peak District National Park Authority–managed gravel lay-by located on Grin Low Road, serving hikers, families, and tourists visiting Solomon’s Temple and Poole’s Cavern. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 50 vehicles on a first-come basis; it operates from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking is permitted. There is no lighting or CCTV; park during daylight hours only. An interpretive board at the entrance provides maps for the 3 km circuit up to Solomon’s Temple, historical notes on 18th-century follies, and wildlife-spotting tips (e.g., red grouse, tree pipits). Benches and picnic tables overlook the limestone plateau. Pedestrian trails lead directly to Solomon’s Temple ascent (150 m) and onward to Poole’s Cavern (2 km). Seasonal guided heritage walks reduce capacity by 10%; overflow parking is directed to Pavilion Gardens Car Park (1.5 km) with shuttle service during major events. Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and remove invasive species annually.
