Be the first to review

Hardwick Heath Car Park is a public facility providing access to Hardwick Heath nature reserve and the adjacent West Suffolk Hospital, offering 100 sealed gravel bays. Five accessible bays are located nearest the pedestrian gate leading to both the heathland trails and hospital staff walkway. Parking is free of charge during off-peak hours; however, a £3 daily fee applies on weekdays between 7 am and 7 pm, payable via pay-and-display machines that accept coins and contactless cards. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line the pedestrian route from dusk until 10 pm, and two CCTV cameras monitor the entrance for safety. Covered wooden benches and an information kiosk at the entrance display walking trail maps, heathland wildlife guides, and hospital visitor information. Pedestrian pathways lead directly to the hospital main entrance within a three-minute walk, and a bus stop on Hardwick Lane offers half-hourly services to Bury St Edmunds town centre. Regular maintenance includes bi-annual gravel topping, monthly line repainting, and litter clearance to maintain a safe environment for both nature enthusiasts and hospital visitors.
