Free parking for Tissington Trail cycling and Hartington village walks
Hartington Station Car Park is a free, Peak District National Park Authoritymanaged tarmac and gravel lot located on the B5054 in Hartington village, serving visitors to the Tissington Trail and Peak District countryside. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 100 vehicles on a first-come basis; it operates from dawn until dusk; overnight parking is prohibited. There is no lighting or CCTV; park in daylight hours only. An information board at the entrance provides maps for the 16 km Tissington Trail, historical notes on the former Hartington railway station, and cycling route guidance. Benches and picnic tables are provided near the lot perimeter overlooking fields. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the Tissington Trail head (50 m) and onward to Hartington village centre (200 m). Seasonal cycle races and charity hikes reduce capacity by 20%; overflow parking is directed to Tissington Village Car Park (3 km) with shuttle service during major events. Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and trim hedges quarterly.
