Harwich Road Parking is a council-managed surface lot serving the Ardleigh village and local countryside walkers. The facility provides 40 sealed gravel bays, including two accessible spaces located adjacent to the footpath leading to St Marys Church and surrounding countryside trails. Parking is free of charge year-round; overnight stays are discouraged by signage. Solar-powered LED bollard lights line pedestrian walkways from dusk until 9:00 pm, ensuring safe egress for evening church services and walks. No CCTV is installed due to low overnight traffic; local parish wardens patrol the site periodically. Covered information boards at the entrance display local bus timetables for limited services to Colchester, church service times, and walking path maps. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the church, village hall, and footpaths to arable farmland within a one-minute walk. Quarterly maintenance includes gravel replenishment, line repainting of bay markers, and litter clearance to maintain a tidy, community-focused environment.
