Rustic nature reserve parking with accessible bays and gravel surface
Little Nomanshill Wood Car Park is a surfaced gravel facility providing approximately 40 bays for visitors to the historic Nomanshill Wood local nature reserve. Open from dawn until dusk (approx. 6 am8 pm summer; 7 am6 pm winter), it has no artificial lighting to preserve nocturnal wildlife. Two accessible bays with firm, rolled gravel are positioned within 10 m of the main footpath into the woodland and feature drop-kerb ramps and tactile paving strips for visually impaired users. A solitary CCTV camera at the entrance offers limited monitoring during operational hours. In 2024, the lot was regraded and additional gravel applied to eliminate low spots; perimeter drainage ditches prevent waterlogging after heavy rainfall. An interpretive signboard at the entrance provides maps of walking trails, details on local flora and fauna, and guidelines for responsible wildlife watching. Monthly volunteer ranger patrols ensure litter clearance, trail upkeep, and visitor assistance. Directional signage inside the lot directs drivers to the single exit onto Woodborough Road.
