The Loading Bay at The Arcade in Barnsley is a dedicated commercial parking area designed for goods vehicles servicing the indoor market and surrounding retail units. Located off Arcade Walk, the bay occupies a block-paved surface with reinforced concrete loading pads, capable of accommodating up to two heavy goods vehicles simultaneously. Hours of operation are restricted to 7 am10 am and 4 pm6 pm to minimize congestion during peak shopping periods. Signage clearly indicates loading-only status, and enforcement by BMBC parking attendants ensures that unauthorized vehicles receive penalty notices. The bay is flanked by bollards and protective bollard hoops to prevent vehicle overrun onto pedestrian walkways. No lighting is provided within the bay itself, as usage is limited to daylight hours. Adjacent to the bay, a service yard provides direct access to storage facilities beneath The Glass Works shopping centre. Regular sweeping and surface sweeping take place bi-weekly to remove debris and maintain a safe loading environment.
