Community car park with free 2 hrs and easy local access
Lowreys Lane Car Park is a modest 80-space surface facility situated in the Low Fell neighborhood, providing access to local shops, community center, and adjoining residential streets. Open 7 am9 pm daily, parking is free for the first two hours; thereafter a pay-and-display tariff of £0.40 per hour applies, collected via a single coin- and card-operated machine. Two accessible bays with dropped kerbs and tactile paving are positioned closest to the community center entrance. The asphalt surface was resurfaced in mid-2023, and refreshed line markings delineate each bay. LED streetlamps provide uniform illumination, while two CCTV cameras monitor entry and exit points. Monthly grounds maintenance includes litter clearance and inspection for potholes; minor repairs are completed quarterly. Benches with simple metal frames are installed along the western boundary to serve pedestrians accessing the local library and shops. Directional signage indicates exit routes onto Durham Road, and a pedestrian footpath links directly to the nearest bus stop serving the city center.
