Loxley Lane Parking is a free council-managed gravel lay-by located on Loxley Lane, serving Whitwell and nearby countryside footpaths. The unmarked lot accommodates approximately 25 vehicles on a first-come basis; it operates from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime visits only. A laminated map at the entrance displays local walking routes toward Creswell Crags (4 km) and wildlife-spotter tips (e.g., barn owls, roe deer). Benches are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking farmland. Pedestrian trails lead directly to the footpath head (0.05 km) and to the nearby Whitwell Silkstone Heritage Centre (1 km). Seasonal agricultural shows reduce capacity by 5; signage directs drivers to the Spring Street Car Park (0.5 km). Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and inspect drainage quarterly.
