Free parking for Lyth Hill Country Park trails
Lyth Hill Middle Car Park is a free, council-managed gravel lay-by located on The Rope Walk, serving Lyth Hill Country Park. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 20 vehicles on a first-come basis; open dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime visits only. A Shropshire Hills AONB interpretation board displays trail maps for the 4 km circular path around the middle slopes, historical notes on the Iron Age hillfort, and wildlife-spotting tips (e.g., tawny owls, foxes). Benches and picnic tables are located near the lot perimeter overlooking panoramic views of the Severn Valley. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the middle ridge trailhead (0.05 km) and to connecting footpaths toward Lyth Hill summit (1 km). Seasonal guided nature walks reduce capacity by 5; signage directs drivers to the upper and lower Lyth Hill car parks (0.5 km). Maintenance crews clear invasive gorse quarterly and perform litter picks monthly.
