Free rural parking for Martin Down nature walks
Located off B3079 (SP5 5RH) near Salisbury, Martin Down Nature Reserve Car Park offers 25 gravel-reinforced bays for visitors to the chalk downland habitat. Open daily from 8 am to dusk (approximately 6 am–7 pm in summer), parking is free but limited; overflow directs to roadside parking. No lighting or EV charging is provided to preserve sensitive habitats. One disabled bay with firm gravel is positioned nearest to the reserve entrance. A short footpath leads to waymarked trails and hilltop viewpoints within a 5-minute walk. National Trust wardens conduct periodic patrols to maintain trail signage and ensure conservation guidelines are followed.
