Free marshland parking for Whixall nature trails
Morris Bridge Car Park is a free, council-managed gravel lay-by located at Roving Bridge in Whixall Marsh, providing access to local nature trails and birdwatching hides. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 30 vehicles on a first-come basis; open from dawn until dusk, no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV; daytime use only. A large noticeboard at the entrance displays information on wetland wildlife (e.g., heron, lapwing), trail maps (1 km and 3 km loops), and fishing regulations for the adjacent canal. Benches and picnic tables are positioned near the lot perimeter overlooking the marshes. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the canal towpath (0.05 km) and to walking routes toward Prees Heath (2 km). Seasonal wetland conservation days reduce capacity by 10; drivers are directed to the adjacent Farmers Field overflow lot (0.4 km). Maintenance crews clear invasive vegetation quarterly and perform litter picks monthly.
