Historic house parking with a nominal trust donation
Operated by the National Trust, Mr Straws House Car Park on Blyth Grove provides 30 marked bays, including 3 Blue Badge spaces and one motorcycle bay. It opens from 10 am to 5 pm daily (closed Tuesdays); no evening parking. A nominal charge of £1.00 per car is collected via an honesty box to support National Trust maintenance. There is no CCTV but the lot is within view of the house stewards office. Pedestrian exits lead directly to the National Trust property entrance (0.05 km), local bus stop on Blyth Grove (0.1 km), and Shireoaks Colliery Heritage Museum (0.6 km). Benches are positioned near the lots edge overlooking a small community garden. Seasonal National Trust open-house weekends reduce capacity by 5; signs direct overflow to the Central Avenue Visitor Car Park (2 km). Maintenance teams clear litter fortnightly and trim hedgerows quarterly.
