Free parking for National Trust Ice House and estate walks
Attingham Park Ice House Car Park is a free National Trust gravel lot located off the B4380, providing access to the Ice House visitor hub and the wider Attingham Park estate. The unmarked facility can accommodate approximately 50 vehicles on a first-come basis; open from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking. There is no lighting or CCTV, so daytime visits are recommended. A large interpretation board at the entrance outlines the 1.5 km walking route around the Ice House, historical information about 18th-century ice storage practices, and guidance on exploring the southeast parkland rides. Benches and picnic tables are placed near the lot perimeter overlooking the ornamental lakes. Pedestrian trails lead directly to the Ice House itself (0.15 km) and onward to Attingham Park Mansion via a waymarked route (2 km). Seasonal guided heritage tours occur on the first weekend of each month between May and September, reducing available spaces by 20; signage directs overflow visitors to the stable yard car park adjacent to the main house (2 km). Volunteer stewards conduct weekly litter picks, and National Trust maintenance crews inspect the access track quarterly to clear fallen branches.
