Free National Trust parking for Chirk Castle visits
Chirk Castle Car Park is a free National Trust tarmac surface lot located off the A5, serving the medieval Chirk Castle and its surrounding gardens. The facility offers 120 marked bays, including eight Blue Badge spaces near the visitor entrance and two motorcycle bays. It operates 9 am–5 pm daily; no pay-and-display required, but early arrival is recommended during peak season (April–September). LED lamp columns ensure illumination until dusk, and CCTV cameras monitor entry and exit points. Pedestrian exits lead directly to the castle entrance (0.05 km), the formal gardens (0.1 km), and the canal towpath (0.2 km). Two 22 kW EV chargers are installed at no cost for National Trust members, billed via a posted phone number. Seasonal medieval reenactment events reduce capacity by 20; signage directs overflow visitors to the Lluest-wen Hall overflow lot (2 km). Volunteer stewards conduct weekly litter picks, and National Trust maintenance teams inspect tarmac twice yearly.
