Secure multilevel parking with ANPR and EV charging near Shieldfield
NCP Stoddart Street is a five-level concrete car park offering 350 spaces in the Shieldfield district, adjacent to student housing and local businesses. Entry and exit are ANPR-controlled, with pay-on-foot stations at each pedestrian exit (tariffs £6 per day; £3 after 5 pm) accepting card, cash, and contactless. Fifty accessible bays (10 per level) are located next to each lift lobby, featuring dropped kerbs and tactile paving. Bright LED strip lighting ensures uniform illumination, and 24-hour CCTV with motion detection monitors all decks, ramps, and stairwells. The structure underwent epoxy resin floor resurfacing in early 2024 to improve durability and slip resistance. Rapid EV charging points (three 22 kW units) were installed on Level 2 in late 2024, reserved via the NCP app. Pedestrian exits lead directly to Ridley Place and local bus routes; directional signage guides drivers through a one-way circulation system. Monthly structural inspections check for concrete spalling and corrosion, and line markings are refreshed quarterly.
