Quayside surface parking with accessible bays and pay-and-display
New Bridge Street Parking is a 100-space surface lot located adjacent to the Quayside, serving local offices, restaurants, and cultural venues. Operating hours are 7 am11 pm daily, with pay-and-display tariffs of £1.50 per hour, capped at £8 for up to 24 hours; payments are accepted via coin, card, contactless, and the RingGo app. Four accessible bays (3.6 m × 6 m) are located closest to the pedestrian exit leading to the Quayside walkway, featuring dropped kerbs and tactile paving. The asphalt surface was resurfaced in late 2023, with line markings refreshed in early 2024. LED column lighting ensures bright coverage after dusk, and two CCTV cameras cover the entire lot. In late 2024, new drainage grates were installed along the perimeter to mitigate flooding. Seasonal flower planters border the northern fence, providing an aesthetic appeal. Pedestrian crossings with textured paving lead directly to the Tyne Bridge footpath and local bus stops. Monthly maintenance includes litter clearance and pothole patching.
