This is the main lower parking area for the Old Rag Mountain hike, located at the boundary of Shenandoah National Park. This large lot is where hikers must park before proceeding to the ranger station to show their park pass and obtain a required hiking permit. It is the official starting point for the strenuous but rewarding Old Rag circuit hike and fills to capacity very early on weekends.
