App-controlled secure parking with barrier access and real-time availability
ParkBee Nottingham Central is a digital-booking private lot situated on Chaucer Street, a short five-minute walk from Nottingham Railway Station. The facility offers 60 bays on a smooth tarmacadam surface, accessed via barrier gates controlled by unique codes provided upon booking. Operating hours are 6 am to 11 pm daily, with the gate locked overnight to prevent unauthorized entry. Five accessible bays (3.6 m wide) are located adjacent to the raised pedestrian walkway leading directly to the station entrance, each featuring drop-kerb ramps and tactile paving strips. The surface was resurfaced in early 2025, with fresh thermoplastic bay markings delineating each stall. Uniform LED column lighting with motion sensors provides illumination only when users are present, minimizing energy usage. Six high-definition CCTV cameras with infrared capability maintain 24/7 surveillance, feeding live footage to the ParkBee operator dashboard. A digital occupancy display at the entrance shows real-time availability to app users. Covered cycle racks for 20 bicycles encourage combined bike-and-ride commuting. In 2024, drainage channels were installed along the northern boundary to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall, and monthly maintenance includes barrier testing, lighting checks, and surface crack sealing.
