Royd Moor Reservoir Car Park provides day-use parking for anglers, hikers, and picnickers visiting Royd Moor Reservoir and the adjacent nature reserve. This gravel-surfaced lot accommodates approximately 40 vehicles, including two accessible bays near the gated entry. Operating daily from 7 am to 8 pm, parking is free; no payment machines or permits are required. No CCTV coverage or lighting is available, so visitors are encouraged to park during daylight hours. A well-maintained footpath leads directly from the lot to the reservoirs fishing platforms, bird hides, and moorland walking routes within a two-minute walk. Informational boards display fishery regulations, wildlife identification guides, and access route maps. Rural bus stops on Barnsley Road provide limited connections to Penistone and Barnsley. EV charging is not available on-site; the nearest rapid charger is at Dodworth Car Park, a 20-minute drive away. Covered cycle racks accommodating up to four bicycles are provided near the entrance to support sustainable outdoor recreation. Seasonal surface grading and pothole repairs ensure safe, stable ground conditions.
