Free park-and-ride with accessible bays, direct hourly buses to town.
P+R Colchester is a park-and-ride facility operated by First Essex Buses in partnership with Colchester City Council. The site features approximately 250 sealed asphalt bays, including eight accessible spaces located nearest the pedestrian shelter and bus boarding area. Parking is free of charge for rail and bus users, but users must display a valid parking permit, obtainable from the bus driver upon boarding. Covered waiting shelters with seating and real-time bus arrival information screens serve the hourly Park and Ride service to Colchester town centre, running from 6:00 am to midnight on weekdays, and 8:00 am to 10:00 pm on weekends. High-lumen LED lampposts illuminate all aisles from dusk until 1:00 am, and a network of six CCTV cameras monitors entrances, exits, and the boarding area for 24/7 security. Pedestrian pathways link directly to the A12 footbridge for safe crossing, and a designated drop-off zone near the entrance provides quick access for taxi and lift-share users. Routine maintenance includes quarterly line repainting, monthly litter clearance, and bi-annual resurfacing inspections to ensure a clean, safe environment.
