Town-centre parking near Abbey Gardens with EV charging
Ram Meadow Car Park is a council-operated tarmac facility serving Bury St Edmunds town centre and Abbey Gardens. The lot offers approximately 150 marked bays including ten disabled-access spaces located near the pedestrian exit. Operating hours are 7 am–9 pm daily; pay-and-display machines accept coins, contactless, and RingGo; no overnight parking. The tarmac surface is grooved to facilitate drainage and inspected monthly, with potholes repaired within 48 hours. LED bollard lighting covers the entire lot during operating hours, and four CCTV cameras monitor entry, exit, and pedestrian routes to the Abbey Gardens. Pedestrian walkways lead directly to Guildhall Street shops (2 minutes’ walk), the Abbey Gardens entrance (3 minutes), and St Edmundsbury Cathedral (5 minutes). Two Type 2 EV charging bays are located near the entrance, available via pay-as-you-go. Daily litter clearance and bi-monthly hedge trimming maintain a well-kept public space.
