Free daytime parking for sports fields with accessible bays
Rectory Playing Field Car Park is a free, unlit gravel lot located adjacent to the Rectory Playing Fields sports complex. Open from dawn until dusk (approx. 6 am7 pm in summer; 7 am5 pm in winter), it can accommodate 60 vehicles. Two accessible bays surfaced with compacted stone and fitted with drop-kerb ramps and tactile paving are positioned closest to the main footpath leading to the clubhouse and football pitches. No formal lighting is provided to maintain minimal light pollution; visitors are advised to park only during operational hours. A single informational board at the entrance offers maps of the playing field amenities and local wildlife guidelines. Bi-annual gravel regrading and compaction are performed to prevent rutting and ensure a level surface, while perimeter hedgerow planting provides visual screening and natural drainage. Volunteer grounds staff patrol the site daily between 8 am and 8 pm during peak seasons to assist visitors and maintain cleanliness. Directional signage indicates the footpath to the adjacent cricket pavilion and childrens playground.
