Free parking for Brereton Heath Nature Reserve
Rifle Range Corner Car Park is a free, council-managed gravel and grass lot located off Penkridge Bank Road, providing access to the Brereton Heath Nature Reserve. The unmarked area accommodates approximately 45 vehicles and is open from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking allowed. An interpretation board at the entrance outlines heathland ecology, birdwatching hotspots, and walking trails (3 km circuit). Benches and picnic tables are positioned at the lot perimeter. No lighting or CCTV is provided. Pedestrian trails lead directly to the nature reserves lake (0.1 km) and bird hides (0.3 km). Seasonal guided ranger walks occur monthly between March and October, focusing on rare flora. Maintenance crews clear invasive scrub quarterly and inspect the surface for erosion twice a year.
