Free 2 hr parking with in-store validation
The Sainsburys Throckley car park comprises 200 surfaced spaces serving both the supermarket and adjacent retail units. Bays are marked with thermoplastic paint, including eight parent & child bays and six accessible bays located within 20 m of the store entrance, each featuring dropped kerbs with tactile paving. The site is open from 7 am to 10 pm daily; outside these hours the barrier gates remain closed. All areas feature LED column lighting and 24-hour CCTV coverage. Parking is free for up to two hours with a minimum £5 in-store spend (scanned at checkout), after which a flat rate of £3 applies. The tarmacadam was resurfaced in mid-2023, and a new drainage system with grated gullies prevents standing water during heavy rainfall. Directional signage guides drivers to the exit onto Newburn Road, and a dedicated cycle shelter with room for 12 bicycles lies adjacent to the pedestrian walkway. A guard rail protects the pedestrian crossing zone leading to the stores main doors.
