Sainsburys Car Park is a private, tarmacked facility serving the Sainsburys supermarket on Newsteads Drive, Whitley Bay (NE25 9HU). The lot accommodates approximately 180 vehicles, including eight accessible bays directly outside the store entrance. Parking is free for customers with a minimum spend of £5.00; ANPR cameras enforce the two-hour maximum stay without validation by issuing fines. LED lighting columns provide illumination from 07:00 until 23:00, and CCTV cameras cover all aisles. A pedestrian footpath leads from the lot to the store entrance (0.05 miles), passing by the petrol station forecourt. The asphalt surface was resurfaced in 2022, with fresh bay markings and speed bumps to regulate circulation. Drainage channels around the perimeter prevent pooling during heavy rain. Regular patrols by store security ensure compliance with shopper-only parking, and a digital display at the entrance shows available bays in real time.
