Shipley Lock Car Park at Boat Inn Farm offers 50 gravel bays for canal boat users, anglers, and walkers. Operating dawndusk (approx. 6 am8 pm summer; 7 am6 pm winter), no lighting preserves wildlife habitats. Two accessible bays surfaced with compacted gravel are within 10 m of the towpath entrance, each with drop-kerb ramps and tactile paving. Gravel regrading and drainage trenches were installed in 2024 to maintain levels and prevent pooling. An interpretive board at the entrance provides canal history, towpath maps, and angling regulations. Volunteer canal trust wardens patrol daily during opening hours for litter clearance and visitor assistance. Directional signage guides drivers to the exit onto Main Street.
