Expansive reservoir parking for scenic walks.
Swinsty Reservoir Car Park is a vast, gravel-surfaced parking facility serving Swinsty Reservoir in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, located within the Harrogate district. It holds approximately 200 vehicles, including 4 coach bays and 6 blue-badge spaces closest to the path leading to the reservoir perimeter. The car park entrance road is well signposted from the A59, with passing places on narrow sections. From the lot, a 2-mile circular walking route follows the reservoir embankment and spills over into Fewston Reservoir pathways, with interpretive signs detailing local wildlife and reservoir engineering history. There is a basic timber kiosk offering refreshments and map leaflets on weekends, and two chemical toilets are provided near the main entrance. Parking charges are £4.50 per day on weekends and bank holidays, £3.00 weekdays; payment is by pay-and-display (cash or card) or via the PayByPhone app. The car park is open 24 hours with limited dusk illumination, but no overnight camping or sleeping in vehicles is permitted.
