Free woodland parking for Swithland South trail access
Located at the southern entrance to Swithland Wood, this purpose-built car park provides free parking for forest visitors. The surface is compacted gravel, accommodating about 50 vehicles, including three disabled bays nearest the trailhead. Wooden posts and low stone walls border the perimeter; no lighting is installed, so after-dark parking is not advised. Information boards display trail routes, safety notices and wildlife information. A wide footpath leads from the lot into Swithland Wood within 30 seconds. During weekends and bank holidays, the car park fills early due to high footfall; parking attendants may collect voluntary donations for conservation. The nearest bus stop is in Woodhouse Eaves village, approximately a 1.2-kilometre walk along forest tracks.
