Free parking for Peak District Boundary Walk and Poole’s Cavern access

Be the first to review

The Street Car Park is a free, Peak District National Park Authority–managed surface tarmac lot located on The Street at the northern entrance to Buxton town centre, serving visitors to the Goyt Valley and water sports at Poole’s Cavern. The unmarked facility accommodates approximately 80 vehicles on a first-come basis and operates from dawn until dusk; no overnight parking is permitted. There is no lighting or CCTV; visitors should park during daylight hours only. An information board at the lot entrance provides maps of the Peak District Boundary Walk and Goyt Valley trails. Benches and picnic tables overlook the agricultural valley below. Pedestrian paths lead directly to the Goyt Valley footpath (200 m) and Queens Drive entrance to Buxton Country Park (1 km). Seasonal cycling events and heritage walks reduce capacity by 15%; overflow parking is directed to South Street Car Park (2 km). Maintenance crews clear litter monthly and inspect drainage quarterly.
